How to repair a tear or missing thread

I am going to throw this TW out the window, I am so frustrated. I am working on FS and was trying to do the little lion in the upper right corner. Well I kindof ripped the fabric (OMG!). It's not a real rip, but looks like I pulled out a thread for about once inch (vertical). This is on evenweave. 28ct. Does anyone know how to fix something like this? Please help. I don't want to have to frog the...

Use 1/4 or 3/4 stitches?

I'm stitching my first TW, the needlebook actually. I'm stuck on the chain. I've stitched 1/4 stitches where the chain overlaps but when I did the backstitching it doesn't look right. It looks like it's missing something - a part stitch I imagine. Has anyone else done just 1/4 stitches or did they do 3/4 and if so when? I just started on the backstitching and all the dragon is 1/4 stitches as well. I'm not sure what to do.

I am 37 and I have been cross-stitching since I was about 6 or 7. I had a baby daughter 2 1/2 years ago and I didn't buy a birth announcement piece because I wanted to find the right one...well, of course, that is when I came across TW's. I am searching to buy the pattern now, but the kit is only in linen.

However, I have never stitched on linen..only AIDA. I bought a piece of linen and I keep staring at it, and I cannot work it out in my mind how you would even begin.

Converting cotton floss to tapestry wool

I'd like to do some of my cross stitch pieces on a larger scale, with tapestry wool on canvas. But how do I convert the DMC colors on the chart into tapestry wool colors? Does anyone know of a conversion chart, or should I just go to the shop and match each color by hand?

I am looking for instruction in how to attach the beads in this piece. The pattern say do it but I don't know how. Do I sticth with colored floss and do I attach the bead over a cross stitch, in place of a cross stitch or make 1/2 the cross and attach the bead on the second half?

Any suggestions for stubborn stains?

I have just soaked my Enchanter in "Lux" Pure Soap for over 48 hours and the following stains just won't come out (even after rubbing them with my fingers as hard as I dare....):

I would like to know how can I easily start a thread when I stitch one over one. When I stitch two over two, I use the loop method and the pinstitch method, depending if I stitch with one or two different colors. I know that the loop method can work one over one (but with special care) when you stitch with one color. But when you have blended theads, it doesn't work anymore. I try to avoid reaching for the back of my work as much as I can.

I've been stumbleing through framing my own work for a while now. But I've got some weding samplers that I want to be framed better than the rest of my stuff. 1. When framing TW XS, are there particular schools of thought about utilizing any type of glass vs. no glass? I am a non smoking, pro lint and cat hair household. I thought of buying a long "Christmas paper" plastic storage bin. However, a friend of mine said this wasn't good for the fabric. I have no idea, but would very much like to know what you think.

I have a bunch of stiff-as-a-board Charles Craft Aida, and would like to dye it, or paint it, so that I might be more apt to use it. I just can't see to stitch on evenweave, and I love the Silkweaver Aida I bought, but can't afford to do that very often. I never paid attention before, but I guess I should start now.

I have heard, but I can find it, that your stitches should cross over the fabric threads in a certain way. Something about vertical threads, cross stitches, etc.

Anyone have a picture for me, or can explain in it laymen terms?
