Wow Ellen, I wish I were that far. I start at the top and work my way down. I am just at the peacock's head. I do backstitch as I go, otherwise the pear
leaves would drive me nuts. I love it as much as I did the first time. I sometimes think I am nuts for doing this again, but it is just so beautiful.

Beautiful, Ellen! I am just getting back to stitching and this is one of the three projects I picked up to rotate...
Mine was a UFO that was a gift from a friend - I spent 20 or so hours frogging and did about 50 hours of stitching. This is what it looks like now:

Thanks, Ellen.
My friend who started this doesn't read English very well, so she was struggling with the instructions and made some mistakes... And then her husband told her he didn't like the picture anyway...
So that's why she gave it to me. And since she doesn't want it back when it's done, I felt free to remove the noticeable errors - which explains the 20 hours or so of frogging. It's funny - people have been encouraging me to start 'something small' to get me back to stitching, and I just didn't see anything that appealed to me... And then I came across PT while sorting stash and that was the 'trigger' I needed. Definitely not something small.

That's not very nice from the husband of your friend, while she was struggling with the instructions.
You must understand them, otherwise mistakes will be made. Mine is still on hold, but I really want to finish it sometime. ![]()

Peacock Tapestry | #30 | ||
|
I started the Peacock Tapestry in January. I can work on it for a couple of hours 3-4 nights a week. I am about half finished. I did the border first
(except for the metallic threads) because it is just so beautiful and I wanted to see what it looked like. Then I started the pattern itself. It is a
challenge but it is looking so great. My husband thinks it is amazing. One thing that helped me was to use a large Lo-ran magnetic board for the pattern.
Then I used the large magnets and did sections at a time. Each section was 12-15 stitches wide and I stitched from the top of the page to the bottom of the
page in this section using another magnet as a type of ruler and just lowering it row by row to use the same color. It took me a while to figure this out but
it is working very well and when I am done with a section I get to see the result. It also helped with counting stitches. I did the section with the
background trees and I read the instructions but when I got to that section I stitched it (forgetting the instructions) in cross stitches and then realized it
didn't look like the picture. So I had a major portion of stitches to tear out. Just a little stumbling block. I can't wait to sit down at night now
and do some more stitching on this.
