Hi all,
I have just soaked my Enchanter in "Lux" Pure Soap for over 48 hours and the following stains just won't come out (even after rubbing them with my fingers as hard as I dare....):
1) Sweaty thread. I managed to get the actual threads I was using on the grey columns dirty and sweaty so now have brownish patches.
(I know I should have ended the thread and got a new one, but I was using the kit and didn't know how generous it would be with the colours. With the dye shift in DMC grey, it would have been a problem to run out)
2) Red wine. Don't ask! Hic!
I'm going to try the salt paste routine but does anyone have any other suggestions? I might be able "matt" it out at framing....
3) Rust. I've tried lemon juice and that has just spread the stain even closer to the edge of the stitching. Should I keep on with lemon and does it have to be fresh or will that cooking variety (bottled) work? Is vinegar any good?
I'm very tempted to use one of those deep cleaning pre-wash/ oxy-action etc. cleaners.... Has anyone ever used them without ruining DMC threads? (I haven't done the Kreiniks, backstitching or beading yet and won't until the thing is totally clean.)
Just one thing, I'm in Australia so some brands might be a problem.... for instance, I can't buy Rustiban or oxalic acid (rust removers). I doubt I'd be allowed to order such things in from OS either, postage and import rules are very strict here too.
