This thread contains any chart errors, stitching tips, or other snippets of general information for both Birdhouses (a.k.a. Treetop Sampler) and Brilliant Plumage.

From Sherry's errata:
* To make the border symetrical, some stitchers have added a berry to the top of left side. [leaflet only] * On the chickadee, the french knot for the eye should be one row lower than shown on the chart. Odd tilde symbol in the House Wren scene (leaflet) Yenot: I found an error in the birdhouse in the second panel (the house wren). Along the edge between the top and the front is a ~ as ΒΌ stitches. This symbol does not appear in the key. When comparing it to the magazine chart and allowing for the difference in symbols used we decided it was suppose to be the O (3033). [This is not to be confused with the 523/3348 symbol which is a tilde curving the opposite way.] Chart error in Nuthatch scene (leaflet) Nitmast found that the same symbol (a circle with a vertical line through it extending top and bottom) was listed for both the 523/3013 and 524/3013 blends. The symbol for 524/3013 should be an arrow pointing to the lower right. alemap w/magazine chart: Okay the easiest way to to communicate this is to go from top to bottom and tell you which stitches in what rows counting from the left. These are stitches done with the 524/3013 blend. I counted from the backstitched edge of the actual panel 1st row - 2nd stitch quarter - 3rd stitch full - 7th full 3rd row - 9th stitch full 5th row - 31st stitch quarter - 32nd stitch full 6th row - 29th stitch full 11th row - 35th stitch full - 36th stitch quarter 12th row - 36th stitch full 15th row - 30th stitch full 16th row - 30th stitch quarter - 31st stitch full 23rd row - 43rd stitch quarter - 44th stitch full 24th row - 42nd stitch quarter - 43rd stitch full - 47th stitch full 25th row - 48th stitch full - 49th stitch quarter 26th row - 49th stitch full [Note: The italicized items were added by me based on the kit chart. --Debi] |

Consistency of floss symbols, and the added berry
pollyskydog: I have a question about the floss symbols. Are the symbols the same from panel to panel? (i.e., the dot = white on Chickadee, is it the same for the Titmouse?) Also, what does Sherry mean on her errata list when she says, "To make the border symetrical, some stitchers have added a berry to the top of left side"? ripple: I only have the leaflet (not the magazine), but I assume they are the same as far as your questions go. The symbols are consistent from panel to panel. As for the berry in the border... if you look at the top of the right border and compare with the left border you'll notice that on right there is a berry right at the top, but not on the left. I added a berry in the left border at the top just so that both sides "look the same". Backstitching the border leaves pollyskydog: I did the satin stitch leaves this weekend and am now ready to do the vine backstitching. Did you all do three small stitches for the vein of each leaf or did you do one long vein? ripple: I did 3 backstitches. Congrats on getting the leaves done (?). I did it backwards though... I did the vines first and then the leaves and the berries last. Yenot: I did single backstitches. I also did them first so I would have them for placement help. Arthemise: I did three stitches on the leaves, but I wondered afterward if the long stitches would look better. kimmyXS: I did long stitches. I tried both ways and I liked the look of the long stitches better. I would suggest you do the same and then make a decision on what looks best to you. Fabric The model on the TWDesignworks site was stitched on 28ct Ice Blue Monaco, but the kit comes with 28ct Glass Blue Monaco which is a slightly brighter blue. |
