I'm considering starting Flower Power for my sister. I would like to give it to her for her graduation in about two years. I would like to know is any one
you as an idea of how long it would take to finish it (how many hours). Thank you!!!
Catherine P.S.: By the way, Rebekah, your WIP picture if beautiful! I love your fabric choice. What is it?

Rebekah - of course it's worth showing! Looks great!
Catherine - I don't keep track of hours and I'm nowhere near done. And as you can see from my ticker, my Flower Power is over 5 years old now |

Catherine - I spent the first 4 months of this year focusing completely on FP. When I started, I had one daylily done. This is where I was after the 4
months...http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/18715823. Now, I don't track hours,
but at that time, I was averaging 3 hours a night on weeknights and 8 hours a day on the weekends....there are a lot of hours in this, and I don't think
I'm even at the half-way point yet. Also, I haven't touched it since May....it's so large that you kind of need breaks away from it, if you're
not used to doing one piece at a time.
I hope I'm not discouraging you away from it, but I agree with mis....2 years seems pretty tight to me, too. But if you do decide to take on the challenge, please post here and we will cheer you on!

Welcome J! I love q-snaps, as you can get any size working window you want - and change that size whenever you feel like it. To corral the extra fabric, I fold
the extra on itself toward the q-snpas, then I got a package of shower curtain rings (the cheap plastic ones) and slip them over the folded fabric and qsnaps.
They work like a charm!
Good luck and show pics when you get started

Thanks ladies for having commented on your time frame. I think I better start this one by Christmas if I want it finished by the end of my sister PhD. I
don't mind putting so many hours for her. That degree needs so much dedication, patience and hard work!!!! And I know what I'm talking about!!!

Welcome J! I'm also a q-snap user. The excess fabric gets sort of folded up and kept out of the way with stitching magnets.
And this will teach me to read all the posts before sending a reply.... Welcome Catherine! Both of you, please keep us posted on your progress

hi R thanks for your reply too , I think I will have to get a timer that has a snail as I stitch so slowly. I have only just got my first little q snap but
haven't had a chance to use it yet. Just looking at your picture , I love cats too.

Hi! I'm using q-snaps like everyone else. The shower curtain ring trick is the best method I've used so far for keeping the excess fabric out of the
way. The fabric I'm using is from Enchanted Fabrics. It's Summer Glade Painted
28ct Monaco.

I have the 8 by 8 ( think they are that size)and wondered if it is big enough. Not sure if I will be able hold a bigger one as I haven't used them yet. I
am getting closer to starting FP. :-))

Hi J - I'm using the 11 X 11 snaps and finding they're working out fine. I think the 8 X 8 should work, too, you'll just be moving your snaps more
often than I am. And you should be able to fit entire motifs in the stitching area on yours, so you'll be able to finish things before having to move your
snaps - I'd think you'd do just fine with the set you have.

I use a 11 x 17 q-snaps (h x w). But 8 x 8 should work fine. I use a 6 x 6 for stitching on my afghan.

First off I'm not stitching Flower Power, however, I started with 8x8 Q-Snaps. Eventually I picked up a set of 11x11. I found that was too big, however,
8x11 is perfect. It's just a touch bigger than 8x8, but not too big or heavy for me. I have stitched large pieces, not as large as Flower Power, but I have
dealt with rolling up the excess and using a binder clip to hold the fabric. So that's my $.02 for you.
Yes I still lurk. I do love all the updates when anybody posts them. I do enjoy lurking in this thread.

thanks everyone but just another one of my never ending questions :-)) what do you use under the frame to protect the fabric and areas stitched already, is
there anything else that you all think I need to know eg extra threads , advice from what you have done along the way. Also where do I get stitch magnets, I
don't live in USA but if you know where I can get them that they can be sent to me.it is getting closer to starting
