I use acid-free "tissue" paper to protect the stitches - the type that fabric or thread comes wrapped in?

I just put the clamps over the backs of the stitches and don't worry as it's the back. When I started, I just put the clamps on the front side. After a
good bath at the end I never noticed a problem.

I use a strip of fleece or felt between my fabric and the clamps. It tends to fuzz up, so don't cut the strips too wide. After about 6 months of use,
they're pretty thin, so it's time to cut a new strip

thanks for all your help, do you do the backstitching as you go along??

Oh, most definitely! This piece is way too large for me to think I'd catch all the backstitching after I was done with the stitching. I am, however,
leaving all of the stamens until last - I'm afraid I'd catch those somehow on the journey. But to each his/her own

Normally I backstitch at the end, but with FP, I'm bs'ing as I finish a separate "section". So I bs'd after I finished xs'ing a
hummingbird and after I finished the top part of daylily. I probably won't bs again until I'm done xs'ing the daylily/bottom part of daylily.

hello. Not sure if I have asked you already but how long do you leave your fabric in the q snap , do you take it out everday after stitching?? Thanks j

I would say it depends on the kind of fabric you are using. Linen doesn't like being in hoops and q-snaps for very long, but I almost always use an
evenweave. I leave my projects in the snaps until I'm done working in the section I have available. Sometimes, if I put the project down, it can be months
before I get back to it. And after my final washing, everything settles out just fine. In fact, I just took Flower Power out of his snaps 2 nights ago after
realizing I hadn't touched it since June. He looked just fine when I put him in his project baggie

Unless the fabric is very dark (black or navy), I'm bad about leaving the project on q-snaps for a long time - we're talking months. And I stitch on
anything, aida, evenweave or linen. I do loosen the tension when I know I'm not going to work on it for over a week or two or a month :

Hi J! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!
I haven't touched FP since the fall myself The reason I didn't grid FP was because the charts overlap kind of oddly. I actually thought about gridding, but I like to put a 2nd contasting color in for page breaks and the centers of the design. When I really examined the chart, the overlaps really confused me for that goal. I'm finding that I'm doing just fine without the gridding, though.

I haven't put a stitch on mine since towards end of summer. It's not something I wanted to work on when I'm under a lot of stress (and the last 1/3
of 2008 was horrid) - between stressing and xmas gifts stitching, FP has gotten neglected again

I was at a cross stitch store in New Jersey recently that had a model of this piece. It was done on 36 count! It was amazing. I did not realize how huge it was
until I saw it in person. The person who stitched the model for the store had also done one for her daughter. I can't believe that she did it twice. Good
luck y'all. It is such a gorgeous piece.

My FP hasn't seen the light of day since last fall. I've been on a TW kick lately, and I'm more of a OAATer with projects that take less than 6
months typically. I was hoping that once winter hit and I started missing seeing the flowers and birds all over the place, I'd pick FP back up, but it
hasn't turned out that way. Maybe someday he'll come back out to play...

Hello , is it possible to help me with the backstitch on the daylillies, I can see the sepals labelled to be backstitched in a different colour than the rest
of the flower. Are there sepals on all the daylillies, or is it only the two labelled ones, my thinking is that all the leaves on the others that look like the
labelled sepals should be backstitched in that colour, thanks. Does anyone have new update on their FP.

All the daylilies have sepals.... they are the "petals" that look lighter (daylily sepals aren't green).
No update from me - working 60-80 hours per week haven't left much time/energy to do much stitching! |

Thanks. I have limited time as well to stitch, I have finished the first daylily , very slowly but trying hard to stitch a little everynight, even if it is
only a few stitches.
